Some points regarding your travel to Tromsø:
You will most likely arrive by flight through Oslo (Gardermoen) Airport (OSL)
From there you will travel another 1h 40 min to Tromso with either Scandinavian Airlines/Braathens or Norwegian. These air carriers may take you from some of the major airports abroad as well. For your travel plan it might be an idea to check out their web sites for their international destinations and times. They might provide you with very reasonable prices if you book well ahead of your trip. The air fares in Norway are usually lower the longer ahead you are booking. Please note that if you change booking agent in Oslo (that is: If you book to Oslo from one agent, and from Oslo to Tromso from another, i.e. Norwegian or SAS), you have no guarantee in case of
delays or lost luggage from one carrier/agent to another.
There is no minimum 1 week duration for your trip to obtain a reduced price, but usually if you spend at least one night in a weekend (Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon) you will get a better deal.

Weather forecast
The airport is quite close to the center of town, usually less than a 10 min drive through the tunnel system on the island. A taxi will then cost approx NOK 100 (USD 15) to the center of town. The airport bus, which will stop at the main hotels, cost approx. NOK 50 for a one-way ticket.
The drivers usually communicate quite well in English, so ask the driver if you have questions or requests.

It might be of interest to know that you can park your car in the parking tunnel in Tromsø for a daily fee of approx. NOK 40, unless the hotel can provide free parking.
